1199SEIU Worker Activism Pays Off in Washington DC

Workers at Washington Center for Aging Services in Washington, DC are seeing their hard work and activism pay off. First, they were lauded, along with other 1199 members, at the DC Metro Council’s Evening with Labor, winning the Golden Picket Award for their creative contract campaign against their then-boss, Solanges Vivens. More importantly, though, workers won a bigger victory when the Washington, DC City Council awarded the contract to run their institution to another operator.
